Marque and Griffin Theatre

Wow, we are really grown up now!  We've dug into the ice cream budget and scaped together enough coins to establish our first official sponsorship.

And who better to throw our money at than the Griffin Theatre Company?  Griffin is Australia's only theatre company dedicated exclusively to showcasing new Australian writing.  It has been operating for the past 30 years from the tiny SBW Stables Theatre in Kings Cross, where every performance you experience will be raw, fresh and literally in your face.

Griffin is not-for-profit and struggles to raise enough funding to keep itself going, and we're delighted to be able to help out with a mix of pro bono legal services and spare change.

Marque Turns One!

It's our first birthday today.  Marque threw open its (well they weren't technically ours, kind of borrowed) doors on 20 August 2008 with hopes, dreams and some very dodgy second hand computers.

The computers lasted just long enough for us to buy proper ones, funded by some very loyal clients who came with us and supported us from the start.  Our happy band of refugees set about working out how to build a law firm from scratch, and a year later here we are!  Double the size, in our own home, busy as a Bombay bus conductor and generally living la vida loca.  Who'd have thought law could be so much fun.

To our supporters out there, thank you for helping us survive and so quickly become the most [insert adjective of choice] law firm on earth.

Mystery Partner Revealed

Marque is proud to announce the arrival of Kylie McPherson as its newest partner and head of its Corporate M&A practice.  Kylie joins us after a stellar career at two major firms and fresh from a stint at Babcock & Brown. 

Kylie is, as we promised, a gun M&A lawyer and we're itching to let her loose on the client base, but more importantly she can banana kick from the corner post.  As we just today recorded our first ever lunchtime soccer victory, Kylie's arrival could not be better timed.

This brings our stats to: Partnership 57% female; Whole firm 77% female.   We're having freshly baked banana bread tomorrow to celebrate, join us if you like.

About the photos

We had a lot of arguments about the images on our website. The current collection are all the work of us or our friends, taken in Halong Bay, the Sahara Desert, Cuba, Venice, from a train in Bolivia...

More photos needed - we're prepared to put your photographic work up on our website if you would like to see it get the exposure it deserves (and we like it). We will pay a royalty of $0.00 for a perpetual user licence and you get full attribution on the site. Easy way to become famous.

About our website

A labour of love, sweat and some violence. Is there anything harder than designing a new website? But we love the result and we hope you do too. Our designers are the creative and talented bunch at Elmwood Design, who proved that Melbourne does have imaginative people and delivered to us a site that we think just glows with the reflection of how we see Marque.

Our new home

On 18 May we took up residence at our new permanent home at Level 4, 343 George St. It's like no law office you've ever seen. Transparency is the key. The rest you can find out by dropping in for a visit. It's all thanks to our brilliant interior designers Siren Design and our very fast builders Mammoth Projects.
