Senior lawyer – Major Projects & Infrastructure (Front End)
The Role
An opportunity for an experienced front-end major projects and infrastructure lawyer to join a leading private practice team advising on complex, high-value projects. The role involves acting for developers, contractors and government clients on the structuring, procurement and delivery of major infrastructure and energy projects.
You will work closely with partners on significant transactions, lead discrete workstreams, and take an active role in mentoring junior lawyers.
Key Responsibilities
Advising on the front-end aspects of major infrastructure and energy projects across a range of sectors
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex project documentation, including:
Construction and engineering contracts (EPC, D&C, design and construct, alliancing)
Concession, operating and maintenance agreements
Interface, risk allocation and ancillary project documents
Advising on procurement processes and documentation, including EOIs, RFPs and tender conditions
Supporting clients through bid processes, preferred proponent stages and financial close
Managing matters and workstreams efficiently, including supervising junior lawyers
Working collaboratively with specialist teams (construction, finance, regulatory, planning and environment)
Building strong client relationships and delivering clear, commercially focused advice
Skills & Experience
4-5 years’ PQE with a strong focus on front-end work
Experience gained in a reputable private practice (top-tier or strong mid-tier)
Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex, bespoke project documentation
Sound understanding of project risk allocation and procurement frameworks
Strong commercial judgement and problem-solving skills
Attributes
Confident, technically strong lawyer with the ability to run matters with appropriate supervision
Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
Detail-oriented while maintaining a practical, commercial approach
Collaborative team player with leadership and mentoring capability
Strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality client service
Qualifications
Law degree and current admission to practice in NSW.
